Austrian cuisine has many fathers and, most especially, mothers. One of them, without a doubt, is “Tante Jolesch.“
The Viennese-born author Friedrich Torberg immortalized her with his book Tante Jolesch – The Decline of the West in Anecdotes. Many recipes are tied to this original character, a genial hostess who loved to entertain.
Just like “Tante Jolesch,“ we are dedicated both to our guests and to Austrian culture in Kreuzberg for over 18 years now.
Austrian cuisine has been shaped and influenced by the colorful mix of people in the Court of the Habsburgs. Wiener Schnitzel, Gulasch, Kaiserschmarrn – these well-known foods are sorely missed by Austrian ex-pats living in Berlin as well as other friends of the Alpine republic who enjoy coming to Jolesch to feast on Austrian culinary delights.
